Offers for school classes

Tour I: “Monument to the Battle of the Nations – Idea, Construction and Reception”
During the 60-minute tour, we work with the students to develop the motivation for building Monument to the Battle of the Nations in the imperial era, interpret architecture and groups of figures and address questions about building culture. The history of the monument’s reception in the 20th century and the role of monuments in the present are also discussed.

Tour II: “Napoleon – the beginning and end of an era”
The tour in the “Forum 1813” at the foot of the Monument to Battle of the Nations uses exciting exhibits to convey the course of the Napoleonic era from the French Revolution to the Battle of the Nations from the special perspective of the city of Leipzig. In addition to the story of the event, hero narratives are questioned and the format of the museum object is discussed.

The tours usually last 60 minutes and cost 40 euros for a group size of a maximum of 30 people. A combined tour from both topics as well as a special focus is possible by arrangement. Please direct bookings and questions to besucherservice@voelkerschlachtdenkmal-leipzig.de.
