Museum Forum 1813
Directly at the foot of the monument, our “FORUM 1813” museum provides interesting insights into the fascinating Napoleonic era. Weapons, uniforms, pieces of equipment, pictures and personal souvenirs bring the tragic times of war back to life. Items from the personal possessions of Marshal Poniatowski, who drowned near Leipzig, draw your attention.
A 15 square metre diorama with more than 3,000 figures forms the centre of the exhibition. Based on contemporary descriptions and with as many details as possible, a village from the area around Leipzig was reconstructed the way it might have looked to an observer on 18th October 1813 during the attack by the Prussian and Russian troops.
